Frank Gehry

Frank Gehry is an accomplished architect who currently resides in Los Angeles in the United States of America. Frank Gehry was born Ephraim Owen Goldberg but he later changed his name to Frank Gehry. He has won several awards for his architectural designs including the Pritzker Prize.

Most of the buildings that Frank Gehry designed in the past have become huge tourist attraction sites. His personal residence, which he designed some time back, forms part of th
e buildings that are a major tourist attraction.

Several cities across the world have often engaged the services of Frank Gehry. They say that it is the best way possible to honour such an accomplished architect and designer.

His private residence in Santa Monica California propelled him into the world stage. Other than that, he has also designed other numerous buildings including the Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, Weisman Art Museum in Minneapolis, and Experience Music Project in Seattle among others.

Frank Gehry was born into a Jewish family in Toronto, Ontario. As a child he was very skilful. His grandmother noticed his skills at an early age and helped him hone his skills. This he achieved through building small models of various cities through the able guidance of his grandmother.

As he grew up, Frank Gehry moved to California where he was employed as a delivery truck driver. Meanwhile, he enrolled at the City College in California and later proceeded to the school of architecture at Southern California University where he subsequently graduated.

After his graduation, he served in various fields of architecture. Frank Gehry at one time joined the United States Army where he served for some time. He later enrolled at Harvard Graduate School of design for a degree course in city planning.

He however, never completed his city planning course at Harvard Graduate School of Design. He dropped out mid way to pursue other goals.

Frank Gehry has been married twice. He admits that his first wife Anita Snyder was the one who convinced him to change his name from Ephraim Owen Goldberg to Frank Gehry.

His marriage to Anita Snyder did not last long and they got a divorce in the mid nineteen sixties. Subsequently, between the early seventies and late seventies he got married to his current wife. Frank Gehry has two daughters from his first marriage and two sons from his current wife.

It is believed that because Frank Gehry was born and brought up in Canada, his love for hockey is only natural to the surroundings where he was brought up in. His love for hockey saw him design the hockey World Cup trophy.

Frank Gehry is a dual citizen of both Canada and the United States of America. He currently resides at Santa Monica in California. He occasionally gets out of Los Angeles to practise his trade in various cities in America and across Europe.

Some of his critics have used his designs to categorize him into certain groups which Frank Gehry denies that he is a member of.
